Abstract

Artikel ini menyajikan evaluasi teologis komparatif mengenai makna mimpi dalam Alkitab dan persepsi masyarakat Toraja, menyoroti adanya 'gap' kontekstual yang signifikan akibat perbedaan sejarah, tradisi, dan zaman. Dalam Alkitab, mimpi dipandang sebagai sarana wahyu ilahi langsung yang mengungkapkan kehendak dan kedaulatan Allah, seperti yang dicontohkan dalam mimpi-mimpi Yusuf (anak Yakub), Salomo, Daniel, Yusuf (suami Maria), dan istri Pilatus, yang berfungsi sebagai bimbingan, peringatan, atau nubuat. Sebaliknya, persepsi masyarakat Toraja, yang dikaji melalui hasil wawancara, menunjukkan bahwa mimpi merupakan media komunikasi dengan alam roh dan leluhur , memberikan petunjuk untuk kehidupan sehari-hari atau ritus adat. Namun, terdapat pergeseran pandangan di kalangan generasi muda yang cenderung melihat mimpi sebagai refleksi alam bawah sadar atau "bunga tidur" semata. Secara teologis, perbandingan ini menunjukkan bahwa Alkitab menekankan Allah sebagai sumber tunggal dan berdaulat dari mimpi yang memiliki bobot teologis , sementara masyarakat Toraja memadukan kepercayaan spiritual dengan interpretasi yang lebih modern, sehingga otoritas dan signifikansi teologis mimpi menjadi lebih bervariasi dan ambivalen. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa meskipun fenomena mimpi bersifat universal, maknanya secara teologis terikat erat pada kerangka keyakinan dan narasi historis masing-masing tradisi.
